- Dambulla Cave Temple
After an early morning breakfast at your resort leave for Anuradhapura. Arrive at your hotel & later in the afternoon commence city tour of Anuradhapura the first capital of Sri Lanka for more than thousand years from the 5th century BC, visiting Isurumuniya, Thuparamaya, Ruins of brazen palace, Jethawanaramaya, Moon stone, Abayagiriya, Samadhi Buddha statue, Twin ponds, Sacred Bo Tree, the oldest historically documented tree on the earth. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast leave for Mihintale, which is regarded as the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and is a rocky hill where the first conversion to Buddhism took place. The ascent to the summit of the rock is through 1840 steps. Later leave for Polonnaruwa & visiting the Polonnaruwa museum, Thuparamaya image house, Watadageya, Rankothwehera, Lankathilaka image house, the Galviharaya rock carving house & etc.
Polonnaruwa was the capital from the 11th to 13th century with 12 rulers. Of all the brilliant structures at Polonnaruwa the best known is the glorious Galviharaya complex. These are the four mid 12th century statue cut from a single granite wall and rank among the through master pieces of Sri Lankan art.
After city tour proceed to your hotel for the dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast visit the Sigiriya rock fortress and frescoes. Sigiriya is a rock fortress where King Kasyapa built a fortified palace on top and around 183 meter rocky outcrop in the 5th century AD. On completion proceed to Dambulla to visit the rock cave temple that historically dates back to the 12th century AD. The caves itself dates back to the 2nd or 1st century BC. Continue journey to the resort.
